Father Victor Valdez was ordained to the priesthood on May 17, 2014, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas. He was born on May 23, 1972, in Los Angeles, and grew up in that city. He spent his high school and college years in California, and worked in the pharmacy profession for 15 years.
Moving to Texas in 1995, he entered Assumption Seminary in 2007 following years of discernment. Father Victor earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Oblate School of Theology, and a bachelor’s degree in Sacred Theology from St. Paul University in Ottawa, Canada.
His first assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Anthony Mary Claret. Last year, Father Victor was assigned as administrator of St. Ann Church in San Antonio. He began his service as rector of San Fernando Cathedral on July 1, where the faithful gather for Sunday and daily worship as well as other important events.
